Scratch Tutorial- Whirl Colour

Hello Journal,

This tutorial uses the forever button once again and also I learnt you can set a whirl and colour effect to mouse x and mouse y. So when I clicked the green flag button and direct the mouse to the sprite(the hippo with wings) and minute it moves the hippo moves in a whirl like direction and at the same time changes different colors.

Hello Journal,

This tutorial was the suprise button tutorial. What I learnt was what the colour button did and also about the sound button and the random button. With the colour button, when you clicked on the sprite(the drum) it changes colour by an effect of what number you choose and also for the playing the drum button, i found out that you can actually put the 'green pick random' button. The numbers 35-81 are actually the numbers for each drum instrument and it goes for whatever number of beats chosen. So when i click on the drum it changes colour as well as plays any one of the drum sounds from 35-81 for .2 beats!

Hello Journal,

This tutorial is the one where to sprites are communicating to each other( a shark and a starfish). There a two choices you can pick in terms of what ways the sprites are communicating to each other.In the one I created I have them talking to each other, but there is also the option which shows a speech bubble showing them thinking to themselves. As seen i have chosen the 'saying' option. So when the first and second sprite is clicked the speech bubble pop ups and it stays there for 2 secs.

Hello Journal,

This tutorial involved a sprite (a horse) moving from one end to another and it would give a vision that it was actually galloping. So two costumes were combined and the first one which showed a horse with its first two feet up high and the second costume showing the horse with its feet downwards on the floor, in a gallop position. So it gallops and once it gets to the end it turns around and gallops back!

This tutorial was mainly to do with a sprite(monkey) and wherever the mouse pointer moved the monkey moved. I also adjusted the steps to three so the monkey would move 3 steps towards the mouse ponter.

Hello Journal,

This tutorial is the key moves tutorial, it was quite easily. I learnt mainly how to move my sprite(elephant) around the stage. So I press the up arrow, it goes upwards and goes in the direction of 0. So for the down arrow, it would move downwards in the direction of 180 degrees. Then by pressing the left arrow it would move left in direction of -90 degrees and the opposite for the right arrow going towards 90 degrees!

My elephant would move 10 steps for each direction.

I guess this tutorial would help in terms of when playing a maze game, to help move around!

This is the glider tutorial, while creating this i especially learnt how to make a sprite glide about the stage. My glide went in a triangular movement, and that was the way it positioned with the x's and y's being adjusted that way. As well as that before the seconds are also adjusted to match how long it takes for the sprite(a crab) to go from the bottom(1 sec) to the top and then back to the bottom on the right side(1sec) and then back to the position it started which is on the left hand side(2 secs)!Sanea.

Hello Journal,

This is another tutorial completed, it is the dance twist tutorial. I learned how to use a number of different costumes(in this case the ballerina) and how to change to make her look like she is doing ballerina moves. Also I also learnt how to set the whirl effect while she is dancing and when the key 'w' is pressed it starts her dancing moves as well as starts music to accompany her while she is dancing. It was once again interesting to create it!

Here is the 1st Costume tutorial, which is the changes of the different costumes I had designed. I had learnt how to use the forever button, which means 'keep doing this'. I also learnt how to edit the picture and i also changed the background. Then i combined my first normal cat costume to another cat costume which i edited with a pink background. So it was interesting and something new I learnt!

We got a new asignment ages ago for scartch. I havent had time to write a diary entry as i have been too busy doing the tutorials and challenges. I have finished my tutorials and even my challenges are tricky but i am nearly done, just doing every single one and then going back to challenge 5 which will take the longest as it is actually making a creative story.

My tutorials as well as challenges are above and I written a little on each talking about what i have learnt from that tutorial!

The whole point of these tutorials and challenges is so that we are able to use these skills we have learnt towards the whole making of our game on Scratch, but so far the game is not exactly due at the end of the year but we are also getting marked on the way we present our tutorials and challenges and talk about what we have actually learnt from each!'

This is just an exercise on getting used to flowcharts. As you see above and below in my other psots I have done, one document where it shows the symbols associated with what they are for. The other flowchart is the bath one, showing the process of getting a hot tub bath ready. The one above is the weather flowchart which shows deciding weather or not to put a jumper on!

I have also added different shades of colour to my flowcharts, to decorate it !

These are the definitions that we needed to find out, just to get some background information on creating computer programs.

1. Algorithms- A step-by-step problem-solving procedure, especially an established, recursive computational procedure for solving a problem in a finite number of steps.

2. Pseudocode- Program code unrelated to the hardware of a particular computer and requiring conversion to the code used by the computer before the program can be used. Also called symbolic code. For example, the pseudocode for a bubble sort routine might be written:

3. Machine language- The lowest-level programming language (except for computers that utilize programmable microcode) Machine languages are the only languages understood by computers. [A set of instructions for a specific central processing unit, designed to be usable by a computer without being translated. Also called machine code.]

4. High-level computer language- A programming language such as C, FORTRAN, or Pascal that enables a programmer to write programs that are more or less independent of a particular type of computer. Such languages are considered high-level because they are closer to human languages and further from machine languages. In contrast, assembly languages are considered low-level because they are very close to machine languages.

The main advantage of high-level languages over low-level languages is that they are easier to read, write, and maintain. Ultimately, programs written in a high-level language must be translated into machine language by a compiler or interpreter.

5. Flowchart- graphical representation of the sequence of operations in an information system or program. Information system flowcharts show how data flows from source documents through the computer to final distribution to users. Program flowcharts show the sequence of instructions in a single program or subroutine. Different symbols are used to draw each type of flowchart.

Hello Journal,
Today Sunday 12th of October, I have finally finished my assigment, it took a lot of time and ofcourse research and its finished, I am very happy with what I have written, how I have presented it:). I think the things which needed a lot of research was the how it works part? especially for topics such as ROM and the Iriver,but I have managed and finished. As well as that the future technology also needed a lot of research, I mainly picked future inventions which were going to be released in 2009. So I made sure I finished before my IST lesson on Tuesday. Its been a fun actually working on it, a lot of work went into it but I learnt a lot. If someone had asked what ROM was or what a motherboard or Iriver was I wouldnt have known at all before this assignment. I guess the whole point was to learn and understand new things. My Url for my Piczo website is already put up as mentioned before so my teacher can mark it!

Hello Journal,
On Friday the 10th of October, I finished my Piracy and Copyright finally, yay!, i just have one little part to type thats the how it works part. Even for the other topics I just have to do the how it works and future technology. I have added pictures to my Piracy and Copyright page and the website I used to the website page. While i ws typing this it didnt go as planned. I had typed all the way upto the costs and I decided to put it on the actual page, so that it would be saved, I pressed okay and then Piczo told me I had to sign in( I think it had something to do with the website being open for nearly a day), so i signed in and then I couldnt find any information that I had type, absolutely nothing, I was shocked, I had a feeling something like this would happen. I searched and searched but I couldnt find my typed up piece. Luckily I had the right mind before to save part of it (my introduction, what it is ?question and half of types of it question) it on Word document on my USB, so atleast I had that, so I rewrote the rest that had got deleted, infact it didnt take much time at all I remebered what i had written and I got the website I had used for my information open. So I rewrote the types and the cost and finished the future technology. So I will definetly done by the time school starts on Monday, no matter what!

On Tuesday the 30th of October, I continued with my IST assignment, I made a new link, its a whole page dedicated to the websites that I used. I have put each topic,so for e.g ROM and then the listings of the websites. For each topic i think there will be more websites I will have to add since im not fully done yet. Even for my website page the background is linked to the topic :).
As well as that, on the main index, at the bottom I have added the practice link that we had to do on Broadband and Cable Internet Connection and Wireless Broadband, since i had it on my original piczo, I decided that since it is associated with this current assignmetn i decided to put it on my assigment website, so I transferred the information from the other piczo to the my IST piczo website and set the background to go with the topic as well as included some pictures. I have also changed the link which I have originally put on my blogger post to SaneaIST....my other information on Wireless Broadband remains on Pageflakes, as we had to put our two topics on two different websites.
I still have to figure my video problem, even if i choose a video from the 'piczo zone' they are definetly not going to have videos on ROM and Motherboards etc.... So ill have to find a way to get the videos on each page. I have also decided that each video is mainly going to be from YouTube even though the videos will be unable to be viewed at school, it is important that my teacher gets to see them as they are part of my presentation!
There must be some way to get them onto my website.

Hello Journal,
I started on Monday the 29th of September putting all of my research that i had written on Micrsoft word as well as my pictures on Piczo. I decided to make a whole new website of Piczo for my IST assignment. So I started with first making my Main Index, I experimented with different styles to make the page. The background for each of the pages are linked to what the whole pages is about so therefore for the main index, its an IST assignment, so i decided to put a computers in the background and so for the other pages like the ipod nano chromatic I put the actual ipod nano in the background. I placed the links on the Main Page with a picture next to each link to let the viewer look at what is going to be talked about on that page before clicking on its link. It took a lot of time putting all of that together.
Getting to each of the pages, so I put y background to match with the topic, pasted my information and right next to the info I put the pictures as well as little headings informing about what the picture actually is. Becasue of the background, the writing couldnt be seen that well, so I put a bacground colour behind the text to make it easier. There are sufficient pictures to each page. One difficulty that i still am figuring out is about how to actually put a video on each page. Since its the holidays i cant ask my teacher. The problem is that when i click on video upload i can only get a video saved in a file on my computer. So i know what video I want, the problem is i dont know how to save it on my computer and there is no link where as I can upload the video onto my page. So I am still figruing that out becasue without the video my presentation is not complete. For each page the title for the topic i have programmed in such a way that it is moving which i really like that it makes it very IST-ish. So i spent the whole Monday doing that. I still have Piracy and Copyright to do and i have to fill in the How it works section and Future technology and edit it for each topic.
I have changed my link on the url term 3 assigment on Student net, originally i have put it as my other normal piczo page but now it is under Saneaist....

Hello Diary,
It is Friday, the day that our Multimedia Presentation Assignment is due, the whole week i spent finishing, I just have Piracy and Copyright left and for the others i just have to fill in the How it works question and Future Technology and edit it and then I will organise it on my Piczo, dedicating a page to each and adding pictures as well as one video. I have all my pictures saved on word document and also i know what videos i am picking. So i will be done in like 2 days and put it on my Piczo blog. I have every single thing, document saved to my USB. I have written atleast 2 pages for each and have pictures matching.
I spent whole of yesterday Thursday finishing the rest of my assignment. I just have what is mentioned above left. My main problem was Piracy and Copyright, I wasnt sure what to exactly write about, I did do some research and found Software Piracy but I wasnt sure if that was what I was supposed to write about as I thought it was the second topic-. I asked my teacher and he said that it is what i can write on Software Piracy, it is part of Piracy and Software Piracy. As well as that I had to ask him about the How it works question and Future Technology. For the How it works? he said that it is not necessary to write a whole page, just like a paragrapgh to show that i understand about how the object actually works. So to give me an idea i asked him about how would a mobile phone actually work and he said that it had something to do with radio waves....so i understand in what context he wants it be written in. For the future technolgy Mr. Cavill explained that i should just write on like the future inventions so like if i was writing on the Itouch its next invention was the IPhone. That i understood but my main concern was like what if there was no future technology invented so he explained gave me an idea about projectors and how they are coming up with a new technolgy where as you can this mini porjector in your hand and watch it on the screen, and so instead of inserting a dvd you insert a mircoship, something like that! So I think I'll write about what could be invented next, do more research on that!

Sunday 21st September 2008
Hello Diary,
In IST on Tuesday i was continuing on my assignment. I had done some previous work on Motherboard on last Sunday but I forgot to save it to my USB and actually bring it but that didnt matter I continued with the next topic. I had left some bits of ROM and Motherboard as i couldnt find information and so decided to not waste time and continue with the other topics and get them done and come back to what i couldn't find. So on Tuesday i continued finding information on the 3rd topic which i have picked as Hand held multimedia devices. I wasnt too sure about what exactly what we had to write about so i asked my teacher and he said that to pick 2 or 3 of the items in the bracket and then pick a type from each so like for Ipods, i am writing about the new Ipod nano chromatic. I started my introduction on Friday and sent it to myslef by mail because i forgot my USB.
On Saturday i thought id continue working and i was looking for the Word document where my ROM and Motherboard information was and i couldnt find it saved on my desktop then i found it on recent documents and i couldnt access it becuase of some kind of shortcut so i transferred it onto my desktop and it said delete shortcut or something and i did and then I couldnt find the whole document so that slowed me down. I couldnt even find the websites which i had written on the Word dcoument but luckily i had it on my internet history. So i have to rewrite some of my ROM and my motherboard information. On Saturday i also finished my Ipod nano chromatic just the How it works part i have to ask my teacher and i found a number of pictures and a really good video. The websites which i found were really useful and this time i have made a separate folder on my USB for this assignment and saved it so now i have a backup! I have less than a week, im still not sure which website i am goign to put my info. on Piczo or wikispaces????

Hello Diary,
Last lesson which was on Wednesday, I had written my diary entry for the last lesson and continued on finishing the topic of ROM. It seems to be going well and on the weekend I will probably finish on this topic finally, and get moved on to the next. I found this specific really good website which had a lot information about ROM, including the types, so thats a plus, and then that helps me to go and research more about each of those types and write more about them. Counting down, 2 weeks left from today until its due.

New Assignment- Multimedia Presentation

New term, new assignment, actually its the last 4 weeks of the term. We have got a new assignmetn and i have chosen to do it by myself.
Last lesson on Tuesday the 9th of September and the few lessons before that. Firstly before i got started on this assignment we were required to write on Broadband and Cable and present this information on two websites of our choice. I did Broadband on Piczo.com and Cable on pageflakes.com. The Url's are on my blog where this can be viewed.
Last lesson the 9th of September and the few lessons before that i got started on my actual assignment. I am doing ROM out of the yellow colored group. Movie Update

Hello Journal
Since the holidays a lot has changed concerning with our movie Ankit Joshi Must Die. We had shot all our scences but when we arrived at school and put all of the clips on Movie Maker, there were a lot of complications, like we had to delete extra bits(bloopers) and that would take a lot of time, some videos werent even transferred to the computer yet and some of those which were were blurred. To cut it short,we decided to a quick last minute video and which was due in 3 days, so we shot it in one day and named India's Next Top Model, we recorded on one of the group members phone and then the next day transferred it to the computer by the bluetooth devicce. We edited at lunch time, added music, credits at lunchtime and finally handed it. Luckily we didnt have to make a whole new storyboard and Script our teacher thankfully accepted that we handed our previous movie script and storybooard but unfortunately we forgot to hand it in and got marked down for that. Overall at the beginning I thought it was a stupid idea how could we finish this movie in like 3 days, but we survived and got a good mark :)

Ankit Joshi Must Die Movie Update

Hello Journal,
Our movie is definetly on the way, we have put a lotof effort making this movie and it shall pay off. Our script most of it has been written, we still have to write some more for atleast 2 more scenes and we also have to edit it. Our storyboard, again most of it has been done, some bits and pieces has to be written in and some more storyboards for those two scenes have to be written. Our gnatt chart thankfully that has been written, but to be honest its not really being followed sinece our assginment was suppsoed be due last term but has been scheldued to be due this term and so thankfully we can use our holidays to our advantage. In saying that throughout last term we have been shooting our scenes after school, on the weekends. There have been a few problems with what equipment we use to shoot, but we have survived, using video cameras and phones, its a whole lot of variety! We have been able to transfer the scenes we have done onto the computer(from the tape) and watch them on MovieMaker, edit some of it. It seems to be going really well and looking good so far. We had to change our storyline, at the end of this term because it wasnt working out, but that has been resolved!
A problem that occured was when we were watching the video through the schools camera with our tape, on the computer, what happened was that black strips would come arcoss the video, obviously making it impossible to watch the whole thing, we didnt know what the problem, we kept on oning and offing the camera and restarting everthing! It did turn clear once but then went back to the black strips!
Coming to the practice video, we were asked to do one in class and it was done somewhere in last term, it includes all the cast except Ankit. We used a webcam and microphone. In the video, each of us were our characters, we explained who we are and what we loved doing and we showed our Krazzy 5 symbol!!! This video can be seen in the following link-

New Assignment- Making A Movie!!!!

Hello Journal,

We have got a new task to do in I.T., it is making a movie with a group. My group inlcudes Ananthi, Keerthana, Shivangi and Reshma and ofcourse me. Originally we had only four group member, as the other one was away thankfully we were allowed to inlcude one more person in our group:). We have decided our group name on Friday 9th May 2008, we are called Krazzy 5!!!!!! We have decided this name based on a movie.

Our first storyline was something like the movie John Tucker Must Die. We changed it a little, the name was Ankit Joshi Must Die!!!! It was about these 5 girl who were best of friends and one day we had sleepover party and we were playing Truth OR Dare, one of the friends picked truth when it was her turn and one of the others asked her, Do You Have A Boyfriend ? She replied Yes and said his name and all of the others ( all at the same time) said" WHATTTT", becasue he has gone out with all of us and so we have decided to take revenge on him!

We havent decided on this story yet, but when we do, i will make sure to mention it!

My Last Diary Entry

Thursday 10th April 2008
Hello Diary,
My animation is finally finished and its posted on my blog:). I had it saved it on my USB and on Tuesday i going to put it on. big problem when i actually opened it up on MovieMaker it said something about a different version this could probably be because i did it on my MovieMaker at home so it must have been different! Thankfully i had all my images saved(png) and so my teacher helped me to put it on MovieMaker, it didnt take much time thankfully. Then i added my title and credits. As well as that i forgot to mention that the duration of my images were also adjusted and so it could go faster. It took 3 saving of files before i actaully put it on my blog. I got also preview how it looked before i put it on blog, i saw it on Windows Media Player, so that was cool! Unfortunately while i was uploading onto my blog, our school emergency fire drill went off so i had to log off. When i got back my computer it would'nt work properly but then it was restarted and it worked. I didnt have time to upload then, so i hurriedly saved it on my USB and
then i uploaded at home on my blog.
It took a lot of time but hard work pays off and so im finished and it looks quite good!

Hello Diary,
It is Monday the 7th of April and i have nearly finished my animation. Thankfully today at lunch i went to the computer rooms and i did try and export and import some of my pictures but it just didnt work that well. So i put all my pictures on my USB and came home and just finished. At the beginning went i tried to export and import there was some problem about the file name but thankfully it got sorted and all my images are now imported onto MovieMaker. I even got to finish the background as i was importing the images, thankfully there were few images that needed the background color.I even have added a title and the credits to my animation and i am just figuring out how to actually make the animation go faster, so if i cant figure it at home ill save it on my USB and do it at school! I came up with the title for my animation its called" The Boy And The Red Ball". After all that hardwork it really is goign to look cool. So tommorrow Tuesday its due!
It was quite fun learning about animation and to actually do an actual one was cool. So it was quite and experience and i learnt something new!!!!
Well, tommorrow will be my last diary entry so its been good fun.

My Diary Entry 5

Monday 7th April 2008
Hello Diary,
On Friday the 4th of April 2008, i was starting to worry. As i hadnt even started to convert the pictures to png and import it to MovieMaker. I should have been done my background colour and i did get like 90 at the most done, but i heard it takes a long time to export it and import and so there is still the problem of my characters colour. I even had to go at lunch and do my background colour and i thought i could atleast start to export and import some but i didnt get anytime. Luckily USB's always come in handy. I saved Inkscape on my USB, but did i get a surprise,when i got home, i could install Inkscape and i did have MovieMaker on my laptop but my files weren't there. So all weekend i was helpless and couldn't do anything at all. I still had to export it and import it and time was running out. I have decided that on Monday at lunch time i would go and save every single one of my frames on my USB and then do the whole things at home and post it on my blog. So that should go as planned!!!!

My Diary Entry 4

Monday 7th April 2008
Hello Diary,
On Wednesday 2nd of April 2008, i had finished making all my pictures. This lesson i had to draw the part where my character picks up the ball the moves like 2 steps bounces and then run s towards and picks it up....etc. My character exists the whole frame with the ball, so in the end you only see like the stars!. All together it was 115slides! Yeah thats a lot and it took time but i have finished it. I learnt how to change the background, the problem is that it is going to take a long time because i have to change it to dark blue for every single 115 slides. I also realised that my character had lines of black and i wasnt really sure if his body would be able to be seen against the blue background. So i did learn how to change the strokes/lines into the colour of white, but ill have to see if i have time to actaully do it. As well as that the idea about adding things to my character and the ball, i dont think ill have time to do that either because again 115 slides!!!!
Anyways, atleast my drawings have been done. I still have to convert it to png and the background! Its going to take time but i still have Friday of this week and some of next week!

My Diary Entry 3

Tuesday 1st April 2008
Hello Dairy,
Today Tuesday so many things happened, my animation is defintely on its way. I finished with my background of putting my stars and so i moved onto the object(the ball) and the character.
I wasnt really sure about how to put the background color so that is one things i have to ask sir about next lesson(tommorrow-Wednesday). I drew my circluar figure of my ball and saved it and ill probably change the color at the end. My character that was such a big problem actually drawing it but i did learn how to make it and how to actually move the figure with the help of my teacher. My character i have decided is a stick figure, im not really sure if ill stay with the idea of having a stick figure but i have already saved like 40 slides so far so i think ill just stick to my stick figure! My character was actually drawn outside the box so the whole idea is that i can show it entering the whole picture. So i started with a my characters arm, only like a very small part showing in the box in the beginning. Then i saved it and gradually moved it slowly slowly into the box and each time i pressed, so it was like tap- and then save that movement of the figure. Unfortunately my figure does not have facial appearance so i'll have to go and edit that or since my character is moving side ways i can just show his hair .It will look too plain without anything just a stick figure so ill ofcourse add some other things like the shoes, maybe even a hat would look cool. The object of the ball could be decorated too!
I got an idea of how the the saving of each image you do actaully makes your whole animation. My files were all one after another obviously and so whenever i click one after another i actaully saw how it all worked like how the stars come slowly slowly into your picture and then how my charater slowly slowly walked towards the ball, so that was really cool. Imagine how its actually going to look on MovieMaker. I have also decided that in the beginning of my animation i am going to add a title and in the end the credits!
Next lesson i plan to put the background, add some things to my character continue with my animation. I have to now make my character actually pick the ball up, and then bounce it its going to take a lot of slides and its going to be challenging, but its a lot of fun.
As well as that our assignment has been due next week so we get another week so thats good!Make it perfect....

My Diary Entry 2

Friday 29th March 2008
Hello Diary,
Today in IT, we ofcourse got to work on our animation assignment. I started to draw my images on inkscape. At first i was just drawing all the images just at the same time, but i learnt that you were actually supposed to draw one image for e.g. like a star and then save it and then if you draw another star you save it too just naming it a different file! I didnt actaully intend to draw a background for my animation but then it just came to me so i decided to draw stars. I'll probably also be adding color to the background probably like a dark blue or black. So i started to draw my blue stars which are in different sizes and saved each of them under the file names so they can come one after another....example STAR 1, STAR 2 etc..... That is mostly what happened on Friday, our assignment is due somewhere next week most probably next Friday so my animation shall be on its way!

My Diary Entry 1

Tuesday 25th March2008
Hello Diary,
Well in IT we have just got to know that we have an assignment, actually last Wednesday we got know but today i actually read it throughly and decided to start my diary entries now! I was reading it now and i was wondering if we were to make our animation on Inkscape, so i was confused and i asked sir and i got to know clearly that we are supposed to make our drawings on Inkscape and then import it onto Movie Maker and have the whole drawing come into action! There was a problem, I couldnt find Movie Maker on my computer but thankfully it was on the computer and sir helped me find it..... I am thinking of making this figure, like he is tall has obviously a circle as a face and then body made out of a long square and the hands as one line and then i can use the curved lines as the fingers. As for the feet i am planning to have oval shaped feet and decorate them with stars and even the characters shirt will have a starry pattern. The hair I plan to have it curly, in a messy way.
Now i plan that this character walks and picks up a ball bounces three or more steps and then takes it back and walks to the end of the slide!!
Well its due next Week, so i better get started.

What are we doing in IT?

Hi again,
IT has been a lot of fun so far, learning about graphics, animation and making this blog!
For graphics learnt about the different forms of language associated with pictures for example:jpg and we were each allocated a word and to write about it, so in groups of three, me along with my frinends,we did fps(frames per second)>>>>>if you want to learn more about fps then look at our page, useful info., just go to the school website and in IT, go on graphic terms and u will see useful information on graphics.... This is one of the pictures explaining/show frames per second!
Animation has been fun too, we got to make our own cartoon on Inkscape, mine is just a master piece.....
I shall post my cartoon when i can.......
